Why Do We exist?
Our associates have worked several decades for big consulting firms, global system integrators and leading software product vendors. What made all of us leave the world of big IT product and services companies is our shared understanding, that the incentive structure, management systems and shareholder value focus does work against the interest of clients to have a trusted advisor and get value for money. We now are often asked to support tenders after co-creating strategy and architecture with clients and play a QA function during the solution implementation. In one case of a big German Telco and a leading Global System Integrator (GSI), we were able to reduce the cost of one iteration (9 months) by over €500K. How? We were sitting in a room with the GSI for a whole day and let us explain their solution design for the next iteration and how the effort estimation came about. Next day they came back with the same design but a lower price. In another case with an Australian food manufacturer we recommended to the client to have the GSI using a tool for process and solution design of their business transformation program. This increased productivity of the delivery team, shaving of 10% of the yearly IT budget, through optimization of the solution analysis and design phase. Last example is from a leading software vendor. The sales representative was visiting the client shortly before every quarter, just to convince them to buy additional licenses, so he can hit his quarterly sales target, without even checking the needs of the customers. This kind of behavior is, from our experience, unfortunately not the exception in the industry. We do also work as subcontractors for the big boys from time to time, but we do not accept engagement where we are not convinced that business value for the customer is generated and as we are not bound to the incentives and management structure of the IT service provider our client has chosen, we can act like a true trusted advisor
